This first meeting will be an introduction to the next E.Co Era! The agenda for this meeting is to allow environmentally-interested students, student organizations, and department representatives to express perspectives of E.Co’s role in UCF’s sustainability movement. Sustainability is an interdisciplinary movement which involves every field of knowledge and expertise.  During this meeting, together  we will define who E.Co is as an organization and what role we will play in this year’s sustainability efforts.

This event is to raise awareness for ape conservation and how humans have dramatically impacted their natural environment. Food and drinks will be provided at this event. A guest speaker from the Center for Great Apes will be presenting. If you are planning to attend this event, we ask that you bring an item from the wish list of the Center for Great Apes, which can be found at http://www.centerforgreatapes.org/wish-list.aspx to serve as your admission ticket and to also aid the Center for Great Apes.

Mr. Ippel will discuss GreenWorks Orlando, the City’s comprehensive program to protect its natural resources, provide economic opportunity through environmental sustainability, and encourage environmentally-friendly lifestyles and business practices for those who live, work, or visit Orlando.

You may have seen GreenWorks projects in progress for several years. The program is about to launch an aggressive effort to scale-up these initiatives to better achieve community-

wide environmental success on areas such as energy, transportation, water, solid waste, local food systems, the clean economy, and livability.

There is no cost to attend. Attendees are encouraged to support our venue by ordering food or drink!

Lake I.D.E.A.S. Clean Up @ Lake IDEAS (behind soccer intramural fields)

First Clean Up of the Fall semester will take place at Lake IDEAS on September 6, 2012.

Pickers, gloves, and bags will be provided so bring some friends and a smile. We’ll also enjoy a yummy snack before the clean up so please be punctual :) Hope to see you all there, lets give our lake some well deserved lovin’

Time for an upcycling creation night!

Come by the Academic Village and we’ll get those hands working!

We need to stock up on plastic bag bracelets and magazines coasters to raise some money for IDEAS and to promote awareness on waste contamination.

If you have any of the following materials, please bring them:

-scissors
-string or threads ( to give the bracelets some color! )
-buttons
-soda can taps
-old magazines
-glue
-and anything else you might like to add.

Come on out for some fun!

It’s a potluck too, so bring something tasty to share!
